Leadership, strategy & innovation

I'm Florencia, a ux product designer based in London, UK. In my role as a design team leader, I've helped advance organisational design maturity, introducing and solidifying product, research, and design thinking principles and methods. My expertise extends to researching and designing both internal and client-facing applications and tools, along with the development and implementation of a company-wide innovation ecosystem.

I thrive on creative challenges, always driven by a curiosity to discover unique solutions that genuinely resonate with people. I'm excited about the opportunity to share my knowledge, crafting exceptional user experiences, and contributing to the growth of organisations through innovation and experimentation.

Ground Zero to a Design-Driven Culture

I was challenged to align design with business goals and embedding it within organisational workflows through a central partnership structure. By employing systematic approaches, such as blueprinting and goal-orientated frameworks, my team aimed to integrate strategy and design into the cultural fabric of the organisation. My focus on weaving intent across the three levels of strategy, systems and experience while driving design maturity and growth, aimed to realise a lasting impact across the organisation.

What changed? Prioritisation of roadmaps started to align with wider company goals; by focusing on solving problems, development work became more efficient, and solutions with design input experienced greater positive feedback from users.

visualising 3d assets
in realtime

Virtual production is a filmmaking technique that uses computer-generated imagery (CGI), augmented reality, motion capture, and other technologies to create realistic environments and effects on a virtual set. It allows filmmakers to visualise and capture scenes in real-time, making the production process more efficient and flexible. As the design lead within the core team, we pioneered a scalable ecosystem that addresses the industry's need for immediate creative iteration, bringing about significant cost savings and unmatched flexibility.

What changed? Farsight has emerged as a highly sought-after pre-visualization service at Framestore, garnering widespread acclaim from on-set crews, clients, and users alike. It’s proved a valuable tool for quick assessments of creative alternatives, particularly in complex shots.

Since its inception in 2021, Farsight has been utilised on 16 shows, including notable projects such as 1899, Fantastic Beasts, Man vs Bee, The Last of Us, Barbie, FLITE, and Wonka. Direct feedback from industry professionals has been overwhelmingly positive, with a film Director stating, "It's been a long time since I have been impressed."

COLLABORATION AND EFFICIENCY
IN MEDIA PRODUCTION

While at Autodesk, in envisioning the future of media production, we recognised a pressing need for solutions that empower studios with greater creative agility and scalability. We developed Asset Lifecycle Management (ALM) to seamlessly connect artists to their production data, fostering collaboration across tools, artists, and studios at scale.

What changed? From proof of concept to full-scale production, the project transitioned from ideation to a green-lit project, soon to be launched as Autodesk Flow. Flow will help studios streamline manual processes, collaborate more efficiently, and transform disorganised data into compelling insights, helping teams identify risks, solve problems, and make the right creative decisions. From a business perspective, Asset Lifecycle Management is set to foster better tool integration, increase market share, and boost customer retention, positioning Autodesk as a leader in the VFX industry.

A teacher’s gradebook

The Pearson English Portal aims to facilitate effective English teaching in the modern hybrid classroom, integrating interactive content with traditional printed materials. Teachers aim is to support their student’s learning, but at times it can be difficult to keep track of who’s doing well and who isn’t. How could we help them monitor, review and report in a way that could adapt to different teaching styles and student needs?

What changed? The resulting designs offered clear, purposeful information, prioritising skill data. Teachers could swiftly identify areas needing attention and easily access detailed information on-demand. The design allowed for quick transitions between learning objectives, skills, averages, progression, and completion, providing an intuitive and efficient tool for monitoring student performance.

managing shot data

Our focus was on developing a solution that seamlessly captures, organises, packages, and publishes data generated within a virtual production session within pre-production services for visual effects. It enhances efficiency in downstream departments by providing a structured and accessible data repository.

What changed? It contributed valuable enhancements to the broader virtual production ecosystem. While the project didn't progress beyond its initial MVP, many of its capabilities were integrated into the Farsight suite for virtual production.

Innovate
with
intent

Framestore sought to reignite its innovative culture, aiming to build awareness, understanding, and engagement around innovation. The strategic imperative was to safeguard resilience and success in a dynamic world through a purposeful innovation program. Internal research revealed gaps: lack of focus, no systematic idea management, difficulty in execution, and casual communication.

What changed? In under a year, we piloted and launched a foundational innovation ecosystem with the view to efficiently collect, review, prioritise, de-risk, and fund ideas aligned with strategic objectives. The organisation now possesses a dynamic framework for sustained innovation, fostering a culture that propels growth and resilience.
